Uh, to all of those who are joining us, uh, virtually online, uh, we welcome you to this, uh, sacrament mystery of, of initiation.

In the Eastern Churches, it is the baptismal, uh, celebration that takes place, but also which is called Chrismation, in the Roman Churches referred to as Confirmation, and then finally the child receives first Eucharist.

All of those are the sacraments, the mysteries that bring someone into full communion with the Church.

So we welcome those who are here today in, in the parish, and also those who join us from their homes.

Uh, there also are certain things that, uh, we will not be doing usually during the, the ceremony during this pandemic time.

It begins with, uh, the priest breathing into the face of the child.

This is probably not the best time to do that.

We allow the Holy Spirit to make those movements on, on the Spirit's own grace and power.

In your name, oh Lord, the God of Truth, and in the name of Your only Son and the Holy Spirit, you place your blessing upon your servant, Nicholas Francis, who you have deemed worthy to come to your name and take refuge under the shelter o- of your wings.

Free him from the deceit of this world and fill him with faith in you, hope in you, and love for you and others, that he would know that you are the only true God, together with your only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

Grant that he may walk in the way of your commandments and do what is pleasing to you, for the one who follows the law shall live by the law.

Write his name in the Book of Life, unite him to the flock of your inheritance.

May your holy name be glorified in him, together with that of your Son and the life-creating Spirit.

Let your eyes always look mercifully upon him, let your ears hear his prayers.

Let him rejoice in the work of your hands, and in all of his posterity that he may confess you by worshiping and glorifying your great and most exalted names, all the days of his life.

Oh, Eternal One, Lord and Master, You created us in Your own image and likeness, and You gave us the power of eternal life.

When we fell into sin, You did not turn away from us, but brought us salvation through the incarnation of Your Christ.

Deliver this child from the evil of this world.

Give him the light of Your kingdom.

Open his eyes and mind that the light of the Gospel may shine brightly within him.

During his lifetime, give him a companion, companion of an angel of light to rescue him from every snare lying in his path, from the encounter of the evil one, and from the noonday demon and every evil imagination.

Drive out from him, oh Lord, every evil and unclean spirit hiding and lurking in this world.

The spirit of deceit, the spirit of wickedness, the spirit of greed, the spirit of untruth, and every impurity brought about by the prompting of the devil.

Make him a spiritual lamb of the holy flock of Christ, a worthy member of the Church, a son and heir to your kingdom, that living according to your law, preserving the seal unbroken and keeping his baptismal robe undefiled, he may obtain the happiness of the saints in your kingdom.

Through the grace, the mercies, and the loving kindness of all people, of your only begotten Son with whom you are blessed, together with your all Holy Good and Life-Creating Spirit, now and ever and forever.

Look, O Lord, upon this child and upon this water, and grant it the grace of redemption and the blessing of the Jordan.

Make it a fountain of incorruption, a gift of sanctification for the forgiveness of sins, a healing from sickness, the destruction of evil, impregnable to hostility and filled with angelic strength.

Let those who would ensnare this child flee, for we have called upon your name, O Lord, which is wondrous and glorious and fearful to the enemy.

Lord, Master, God of our ancestors, to those in Noah's ark, you sent a dove bearing in its beak a twig of an olive tree as a sign of reconciliation, of salvation from the flood, foreshadowing the mystery of grace.

Now you have provided the fruit of the olive tree for the celebration of your holy mysteries.

And by it, you have filled those under the law with the Holy Spirit, perfecting them in grace.

Therefore bless this oil through the power, action, and descent of the Holy Spirit that it may be for the anointing of incorruptibility, a weapon of righteousness, a renewal of soul and body, turning away every evil work.

all evil, those who are anointed with it, purified in faith.

For the healing of soul and body that he may love the Lord his God with all of his heart, with all of his soul, and with all of his mind, that he may love others as he loves himself, that he may be ready to listen to the teachings of the faith and accept the words of the divine gospel, that his shoulders may willingly bear the yoke of Christ and gladly carry that burden, that his hands may be raised innocently to God and to heaven to do the right things at all time and bless the Lord, and that his feet may walk in the commandments of Christ all the days of his life.
